On the afternoon of April 29th, Cst. Jerry Hamm was operating a police vehicle equipped with an automatic licence plate reader (ALPR). Cst. Hamm received an alert that a passing vehicle had a registered owner with a suspended licence. The vehicle, being driven by Scott, was pulled over for further investigation. Further review found Scott was suspended since July 2022 due to unpaid fines, and the provided vehicle insurance was expired. The vehicle was also observed to have a window tint that obscured the interior of the vehicle.
Scott was issued a Summons for driving while under suspension, operating a motor vehicle without insurance, and colour coating obscuring interior.
Result: Scott revealed that he is currently unemployed and struggling to pay for various financial obligations. As a result, he was unable to pay for insurance and fines. After brief arguments in court, his fines were reduced from $11,000 to $3,000.
