In the overnight hours of July 20th, police were conducting a RIDE program at the intersection of St. Laurent Blvd and Tremblay Rd. Shortly after 2am, Veronika was driving northbound on St. Laurent Blvd towards the RIDE check. Upon stopping, Veronika was advised of the nature of the stop by Cst. Murphy, who observed to be well dressed and smelled of alcohol. Based upon a suspicion of Veronika being impaired, she took a roadside breath test, which registered a fail. She was arrested, and at the police station she provided two further breath samples with readings of 135 and 124/100mL. She was charged with operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration.
Result: It was a close call but we were able to negotiate a guilty plea to careless driving. No criminal record. No further licence suspension.
