On the afternoon of May 14th, police were dispatched to a motor vehicle collision in the City of Clarence-Rockland. The victim called police stated he was rear-ended by Sandra while at a stop sign eastbound on Du Gold Road. Sandra told police she was not paying attention to the road as her vehicle has automatic braking when approaching a stopped vehicle. A roadside breath sample was provided, registering as a fail. Sandra was arrested for impaired operation. At the station, further breath samples were provided, registering readings of 276 and 273.
Outcome: This was her second offence within ten years but the Crown agreed to treat it as a first offence. She pleaded guilty and received a high fine instead of the mandatory minimum 30 days in jail.
