On February 3rd, 2025, in the city of Ottawa, Erika was at her residence at 2355 Blackstone Crescent with her husband, Stefan. At approximately 3:00 AM, an argument arose after Stefan accused Erika of infidelity and demanded the password to her cell phone. During the argument, the Stefan struck the victim, causing a small scratch under her left nostril and another on the right side of her eye. Erika fled to the bathroom and locked the door for safety.
Shortly after, Stefan broke the bathroom door frame and forced his way inside. Once inside, he struck Erika in the face with a closed fist, causing a visible swelling (“goose egg”) near her left eyebrow and forehead.
At 4:10 AM, the Erika contacted Ottawa Police, reporting that her husband had assaulted her. Officers attended the residence, observed the victim’s injuries, and noted damage to the bathroom door. The victim declined medical attention, refused to sign a medical release, and did not provide a written statement.
At 7:07 AM, Stefan was arrested for assault and mischief and transported to the police cell block. He was later interviewed and provided an inculpatory statement to police. He was charged with the previously mentioned crimes and then released on an undertaking.
Outcome: Stefan was offered and accepted a peace bond. The charges were withdrawn and he was able to go home to his wife and family after a few months of painful separation.
