In September 2025, Stella was hired as a server at a restaurant managed by Mark. Throughout her employment, Stella was subjected to rude comments regarding her weight and appearance, and her inability to pronounce certain words. In early December, Mark pulled Stella’s ear for failing to bring in a sign as directed, which he denied being meant to scold or punish. On a different day, Mark slapped Stella’s face in front of another employee, who corroborated the event to police. Mark was later charged with two counts of assault.
Result: This client was particularly nervous. He did not agree with all that was alleged against him. Some of it, he could acknowledge. But he had a strong track record at the company where he worked (this was related to the file). He performed community service. The Crown agreed to a peace bond, which meant he avoided a criminal record. He also avoided having to admit wrongdoing.
