Late on a March evening, police were stopped at a red light waiting to turn, when Steve drove past their vehicle at an excessive rate of speed, then overtook a small sedan using the oncoming lane of traffic. When stopped, Steve was advised of the reason for the stop, and was asked for his license, ownership and insurance. While speaking with Steve, the officer noticed a strong smell of alcohol. Steve voluntarily provided a breath sample, which registered a fail on the roadside screening device. Approximately an hour later, two further breath tests were performed at the police station. Both tests, a half hour apart, registered a blood alcohol content nearly double the legal limit.

Steve was charged with Operation while impaired.

Result: Steve plead guilty to impaired over 80. He received a $150 fine and a 12 month driving prohibition.
