In late February 2026, Ottawa Police began a drug related investigation involving an individual named Eric. During the investigation, a residence and a rented vehicle were searched. In early March, Eric was in the passenger seat of a different vehicle, being driven by Norman. When the vehicle was stopped, Norman was detained and found to be in possession of a quantity of cocaine, Canadian currency, and two cellular phones. A functioning scale covered in white residue was found inside the vehicle.
Norman was arrested and charged with possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking, and possession of proceeds of crime not exceeding $5000.
Result: A plea bargain was negotiated whereby the client accepted responsibility for being in possession of the proceeds of crime (money). He forfeited that amount and one cell phone. He got his Iphone back. He already had a criminal record so this was simply another entry on his record. Client was pleased with the outcome overall.
