Mohammed was in his home, drinking with a friend. Both were intoxicated at the time an argument began between them. During an ensuing scuffle, Mohammed grabbed the victim’s shirt, and the victim was stabbed with a kitchen knife. Paramedics were called to attend to the victim’s injuries. Mohammed was charged with aggravated assault.
Result: During both the police investigation and the four day trial, the victim admitted that Mohammed had acted in self defence. As a result of this testimony, Mohammed was acquitted.
