On November 17th, 2024, Ottawa Police located an e-bike reported stolen from the owner, Corashi Stehouwer, in the possession of Aaron. The value of the e-bike is not more than $5,000, and Aaron was believed to know that it was obtained by crime. During the arrest, officers also located methamphetamine also known as Meth, a Schedule I controlled substance, on his person. Aaron was charged with possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 and possession of a Schedule I substance.

On January 22nd, 2025, Aaron was further arrested in relation to a domestic incident involving the victim, Samantha. He was charged with assault-choking and uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm. He was released on an Undertaking with conditions that he does not attend the victim’s place and communicate with her.

The next morning, on January 23rd, 2025, Aaron breached these conditions by attending the victim’s residence around 8:00 a.m. and entering the apartment. While inside, he also had contact with the victim, causing an argument after she found him in the bedroom. Police were called and attended the residence at approximately 4:20 p.m., where Aaron was arrested for two counts of failing to comply with an Undertaking. He was given his rights to counsel and a 524 warning before being transported to Central Cellblock and held for a show cause hearing.

Result: This case posed some challenges in that evidence was strong on the breach charges, arguably the most serious, and therefore separate trials on all matters did not make sense. He pleaded guilty. Later, he was re-arrested having breached his no-contact order again by letting her come to his house. He had no criminal record at the beginning. Unfortunately, he was not able to access important addiction and mental health services and wasn’t able to complete the New Directions Partner Assault program in advance. He received a three month jail sentence, plus ancillary orders.
