While attending at a residence on Carling Ave., Marc entered an elevator with Erika, whom he began to berate for her dog’s behaviour after it jumped on him. When she followed him to the parking lot to record his information, he slapped the phone out of her hand. The dispatched officer located him shortly after. Marc was arrested and charged with assault.
Result: This person had never had any conflict with the justice system and was bewildered to have found himself in this situation. While reluctant to acknowledge any wrongdoing, we were able to negotiate a withdrawal of charges upon the accused entering into a peace bond to stay away from the complainant. The client completed some anger management counselling. This was the best outcome with the least risk. The client accepted this outcome as the best approach.
