On November 20th, a running vehicle was observed in the parking lot of a Home Depot with Sean asleep in the driver’s seat. While attempting to wake Sean, Cst. Ashcroft observed open cannabis packages throughout the vehicle. Upon the vehicle door opening, Sean woke, admitting to being intoxicated and trying to sleep it off. He was noted to have glossy eyes with enlarged pupils, slurred speech, and unsteady balance. Sean was charged with operation while impaired by alcohol or drugs.
Result: We convinced the Crown to offer a plea to careless driving, saving him any criminal record. The family ultimately rejected this offer, wanted to go to trial, and hired another law firm.
