Francisco and Elena had been in a relationship for approximately 14 years. They had two children each from previous relationships, and no previous interactions with police.
Just after 11pm on June 29th, Francisco and Elena were involved in a heated dispute, during which Francisco slapped Elena in the face with his hand. Elena also provided police with a statement that she had slapped Francisco prior to being assaulted.
Francisco was arrested and released on an Undertaking, with the condition to have no contact with Elena or attend her residence.
